Having left Leeds University in 1969 with lingering images of watching CREAM and other seminal 60's bands at the Saturday night dances that were going on in those days , I floundered around being a research chemist,civil servant ( had to wear a tie !) and an engineering company secretary for several years until setting up Pennine Sound Studios in 1973 with a couple of guys who were in my band at the time .We started writing together and doing all kinds of recordings for others ,and we continued to expand the technical side of things from 4 track in 1973 to 8 track in 1977 and then 24 track in 1979.
Over the years ,we recorded many well known acts ( see discography page ) and we also set up a thriving publishing company , Kamela Music Ltd.
I parted company with the remaining original band member in 1986 and continued to work freelance for the new owners of the studio who renamed it " MIRAGE " , and who effected a major re-fit of the place to incorporate an Andy Munro control room and upgraded to 48 track Dolby SR , but it folded after a couple of years .Mirage had clients such as 808 State , Mike Pickering ( M People ) et al.
All through the late 70's and 80's I had stopped playing , mostly due to the pressure of studio business , but over the past 10 years I have really got back into it and now play loads more than I ever did....I regret selling off most of my classic guitars though ...I sold my Gretsch Tennessean and my 1958 Les Paul Junior to two guys out of the Stiffs.

Yep,I really did look like that in 1977!!
JKB as he is affectionately known ,has many talents.... great singer and a humorous writer,good song and lyric writer , and a great cartoonist .He also did the cartoon on the final web page as a custom birthday card for my then girlfriend who worked at the studio for a while .
